What can we say about Tazin Lake Lodge? We love going there. The big fish are number one of course, but the adventure, the people, the scenery and the wildlife make it a favorite destination of ours.
But, back to the fish.
Our first episode (watch below) showcases just how crazy fishing can be, with non-stop northern pike and lake trout action. We tried a few different lures this year to see what we can catch Tazin’s famous residents with. In the first episode, I brought up a bunch of Berkley Nessie’s. This 7″ glide bait caught Dan’s personal best pike in 2024 and got so beat up that we brought up a bag full of them this year. It didn’t take long to get hooked up on one.
Dan also brought a Z-Man Chatterbait to see how it would do. He makes the dubious claim to be the first person to ever catch a lake trout trolling with one, haha. It was tongue-in-cheek of course, but I’ve never heard of it happening before….so maybe?
Barry Prall chose to use the reliable Savage Gear Burbot to tempt a big lake trout and he quickly connected. While it wasn’t his personal best, this fish gave him such a workout that he thinks it might have been one of the hardest fighting lakers he’s ever caught.
While the season at Tazin has gone by quickly, it’s been full of big fish. The “Photos” page has been updated to include more fish caught this summer. Check it out to see how things have gone. I’ll post a couple of the new ones below as well.
