Angler Catches Moose Leg! Plus pictures from this week at Tazin Lake Lodge.

We’ve had lots of moose sightings over the years, but this is a first!

It’s been a great stretch of fishing here at Tazin. While we’ve had a couple days of wind and rain, guests have still caught lots of fish! We’ve had a few beautiful days of course too!

Ron came up from Texas for a return trip to the lodge this year. In 2023 he brought his son and had a great time. We filmed an episode of Tazin TV with them, watch it here. This year, he brought his daughter Allie. Her first fish of the trip was a 46″! While that isn’t common, it does happen.

She went on to catch multiple trophy lake trout and so did Ron. They also had some big pike, including this 44″ caught by Allie on their last day, pictured here with guide Jeremy:

Allie started off the trip with the hot hand, catching more fish than Ron. But, after catching his good luck charm, things turned around. That good luck charm? A moose leg:

Shawn and Steve from Iowa booked a trip after watching our “6 Days At Tazin” video series. They wanted to see the big lake trout for themselves. The good ol’ boys got er done, with their guide Kurt!

Blake and Steve from Alaska had quite the experience on Tazin. Doubles aren’t common, but they do happen. And when they do, it can be pure chaos! Doing battle with one big lake trout can be tough, let alone two at the same time. While Jeremy scooped a fish with his net, we boated over and gave him ours for the other. Sometimes you have to put time in to get two lakers in the boat like that and sometimes it happens quickly. Congrats fellas!

We did a bit of filming for the new season of Tazin TV and had luck with both pike and lake trout. We tried new lures, introduced a new competition and had some…interesting… experiences on the lake. Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don’t miss it.
