“Wow. Wow, wow, wow…what an incredible experience.”

Moments after Jason Mitchell’s new pb was netted by Tazin guide Rylan Parrott, the tv host was at a loss for words.
“Oh my…oh my…oh my…what a trip to Tazin. Big lake trout, big pike…what an incredible place.” He said as his trophy laker swam back down to the depths.

Last August, we welcomed Jason and his cameraman Casey George to our island lodge and it didn’t take long for them to see what Tazin is all about.
Rylan started them off with one of our favorite things to do and that’s sharpshoot lakers on our electronics. At their first spot and first drop, Rylan quickly put a healthy, 32″ laker in the net.
“In my opinion, lake trout are the ultimate predators,” Jason said. “As far as being able to accelerate…the horsepower these fish have, how they can shoot up in the water column…they are the ultimate predator.”
The aggressive nature of lakers and the willingness to chase up and down makes them our favorite fish to catch…well, it’s maybe a tie at the top with northern pike.
Our pike fishing might take a back seat to our lakers, but they shouldn’t be overlooked. If you want numbers, you can have a crazy day of sore arms, but we also have the size too.

“We’ve been doing a lot of lake trout fishing, but we’ve been breaking up the days fishing for pike,” Jason added after catching this 40″+. “There’s big pike in here. 40-inch pike or better…they’ve seen pike over 50-inches in here.”
We usually see a 50″ or one close to it each summer. In fact, in 2018 we saw two over 51″. You can see the video of those fish here.
If you want the chance at a 50″ pike or a personal best lake trout, contact us today. We still have openings for this summer, but book now before they fill up.
Thanks Jason for coming to Tazin and great job on the show! Watch it here:
